Appointments
Appointment System
Patients may call in during opening hours to book an appointment with a doctor or nurse or contact the surgery by telephone on 0121 543 1266 from 8am.
Alternatively you may book online via the link at the top of this page.
You will be offered the earliest appointment to see the health professional of your choice.
Emergency Appointments
If your case is urgent please inform the receptionist and you will be given an appointment the same day, but this may not be with the doctor or nurse of your choice.
Practice Nurses
In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many conditions and you may be seen more quickly. Appointments are available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 8:45am and12:15pm and 3:30pm and 5:45pm. Appointment times and clinics may vary from the above; please ask at reception.
Telephone Advice
A doctor is available daily for urgent problems, you will normally be offered a same day appointment if appropriate, with the doctor on call for that day. We also offer a limited number of telephone consultations with doctors and nurses at the end of their lists, if you are having difficulty attending surgery. Please be aware that a doctor or nurse may still need to see you in person to be able to offer you advice/ treatment.
GP Extended Hours
Practices in the SHP federation are also working in partnership to provide additional GP appointments between 6.30pm and 8pm during the week and also over the weekend, If you need access to an evening or weekend non-urgent appointment, please call and speak to the receptionist at your registered practice during normal opening hours.
Your appointment may be with another practice in the area and may not be at your registered practice.
Home Visits
Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling 0121 543 1266 before 10:30.
You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls
You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
Cancelling or changing an appointment
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.

Training Practice
Oldbury Health Centre is a training practice. This means there may be GP’s or other health care professionals who are training with us to obtain experience in general practice. These clinicians have years of experience within healthcare, usually within hospitals prior to joining our surgery. All training members of staff are assigned an accountable GP whilst working within our practice.
Fully registered doctors with extensive experience may be invited to join the practice for a year to gain insight into the medical problems that we deal with. They are capable doctors and will be under our supervision.
We are a training practice and from time to time we will need to video consultations. However, we will not do this without first seeking patients consent, and advance notice will be given when consultations are to be videoed.
Patients have the right to refuse consent to their consultation being videoed and this will not affect the quality of any future treatment they may require. Please rest assured these videos are not for commercial use and they will only be for use in connection with medical training.
We are also a centre for training Student Nurses and you may be asked if you would accept having a training nurse present during your consultation. Please let a staff member know if you would prefer not to do this.
